Black Mountain of Maine Begins Free Skiing, Snowboarding, and Tubing

Kicking off on Wendedsday 1/22 skiers, riders, and snow tubers enjoy a free ride up the hill for the next 7 Wednesdays at Black Mountain.
Thanks to sponsorship by Bangor Savings Bank, you can get on the lifts without spending a dime for 7 Wednesdays from January through March. Ski and Snowboard rentals are only $35 (+tax) and tubes are free! Thanks to the heroic efforts of snowmakers and groomers, 10 trails are open and ready to shred. With another couple good storms aimed at the Northeast, all eyes will turn to the legendary glades and stashes maintained by the Angry beavers.
Black Mountain of Maine, Vacationland's 4th tallest peak, deserves your attention. As a proud member of the Indy Pass family, the resort is more attractive than ever. Plan your visit to discover affordable snowsliding and #BMOMit this winter. Visit for a day trip or make an extra long weekend of it staying nearby: Best Western Plus Rumford Falls, Knotty Moose Cabins, The Rangeley Inn & Tavern, Swift River Suites or The Farm at Worthley Pond.
Packing a tasty buffet of terrain into 1,380’ of vert, Black Mountain is an often overlooked hidden gem. The mountain's layout is perfect for taking laps without getting lost. There is a learners' area with its own dedicated lift; a sprawling blue zone laced with secrets; and the legendary Glades and Nordic trails gnawed into the rowdy terrain by the Angry Beavers. All trails converge in the same base area where the lodge is ready for warming up. Arrive early and stay late for the pre-and-aprés ski scene in the cafe and Last Run Pub: a full bar with free popcorn, 11 Maine brews on tap, food made-to-order and grab & go, and live music on the weekends.
Black Mountain of Maine is set for significant improvements in seasons to come. The resort will be boosting snowmaking operations next summer for the ‘25/26 season. Doubling their snowmaking pond, and expanding snowmaking on major trails will not only improve conditions, it will lengthen the season as well. The resort has secured matching grants and is actively fundraising, with $65,000 already committed out of the $150,000 needed.
