Bomb Hole Beatdown Welcomes All to Loon Mountain January 4, 2025 James Crosby calendar_month Tue Dec 24 2024 menu_book 2 minutes reading time (409 words)

The snow-crowned jewel of Lincoln, NH is hosting a rowdy come-one come-all free rally to celebrate a pillar of snowboarding: the rail jam.

The Bomb Hole Podcast, hosted by Chris Grenier, the sideways-sliding pride of the Commonwealth, is calling all snowboarders for the Bomb Hole Beatdown. On January 4th, Loon Mountain hosts the rail jam featuring sessions for groms and amateurs to compete for gear, and pros to compete for a cash prize. Focused on building community and strengthening snowboarding culture, this is a free event! Listeners of The Bomb Hole know that many top pros hail from the East Coast, so this will be a homecoming event you do not want to miss! Come early for the community, and hang with the big dogs of jib and street.

Expect to have a wild time with riders chucking carcass down stairs and steel– not to mention whatever hell-rail madness the Bomb Hole crew comes up with in collaboration with the Loon terrain parks team. A one-footed uphill snowboard race is another highly anticipated event. Could the fabled Big Nice Burgundy Snowboard be waiting for the winner at the finish line? Stick around after for boarder-band Portable Window taking the stage on the Octagon Lodge Patio.

Pre-registration for the Bomb Hole Beatdown is at The Kanc on January 3rd. Pick up a wristband for entry to the course and whatever goodies the Bomb Hole throws in (always epic stickers) Day-of registration is also an option at the mountain the morning of the jam. Day ticket or season pass is required, and a limited number of lower cost special access lift tickets will be available for rail jam riders. Sponsored by industry heavy hitters CAPiTA, Nitro, Nidecker, Arbor, Union, Thirty-two, and more, the contest village will be stacked with cool swag.

With top of the line snowmaking and rejuvenated lift services, Loon is ripe for the return of the Bomb Hole to the frosty headwaters of the Northeast. Known for an inventive park crew and artful maintenance (who saw the award winning Volcano feature last season?) Loon Mountain is carving out a freestyle reputation in New England. Situated on the longest vertical drop in New Hampshire, the progression of parks available at Loon will take you from ride-on boxes to showtime booters. Already boasting a good base layer, cold and storms on the horizon promise that if sliding steel ain’t your thing, there will be plenty of gnar for all to shred.
