Off-Brand Utah Resorts To Open With Upgrades, Rent-A-Mountain Options Andy Dennison calendar_month Sat Dec 06 2025 menu_book 2 minutes reading time (429 words)

While Utah's larger ski and snowboard mountains often grab headlines, a half-dozen resorts that tend to see less crowding will open 2025-2026 with new stuff.

At Snowbasin, summer crews upgraded the fixed-grip Becker triple chair to a high-speed quad to move more skiers and riders from the base to the Strawberry and Demoisy alpine terrain to skier's right. Ride time is expected to drop from 12 to seven minutes, and a shift of the base terminal location will open up more beginner slopes.

Public-private rogue Powder Mountain (5,000 a., 3,380 vert.) has paused its lift-building efforts; instead, put in a terrain park off Timberline chair. The resident-only section of the mounain (about 3,000 acres) will have its first year in full operation.

At Beaver Mountain's (828 a., 1,700 vert.), Utah's northernmost ski and snowboard mountain, 26,000-square-foot Marge's Cabin is brand-new base lodge to house rental shop, cafe, ski school and skier services.

More parking spots in the middle lot, and the whole place can be rented out for night skiing six days a week.

Nearby Cherry Peak (400 a., 1,265 vert.) will allow groups to rent out the entire mountain Mondays through Thursday during daylight hours. Groups of 150 or more can have the whole hill and tubing during night hours.

Over in Eden, the lower double chair Apollo is back in business at Nordic Valley (500 a., 1,700 vert.). Crews have expanded snowmaking between fixed-grip Apollo and upper high-speed Nordic Express six-pack.

There may be limited night skiing around the base. There's more parking, rotating food trucks and free orientation (i.e., how to carry skis) for newbies.

Down south, Eagle Point (650 a., 1,500 vert.) has a bunch of new condos ready. Located midway between Salt Lake and Las Vegas, the mountain now has free skiing and riding for 12-and-unders, and will rent out whole mountain for large groups.

Hours of operation have been tweaked this season: Daily until Jan. 5, then Friday-Monday from Jan. 9 to Feb. 23, then Friday-Sunday from Feb. 27 to April 5.

And Brian Head (665 a., 1,707 vert.) has put in a new gladed terrain for novices. More snowmaking has gone in all over, and the main overnight lodge has undergone a remodel.
