Thanksgiving Storm crowns the Queens of the East

As turkeys went into the ovens across the Northeast, some form of precipitation was most likely happening outside your window. If you happened to be at Killington Resort in VT or Belleayre Mountain in New York State, that likely meant snow. And plenty of it.
The Thanksgiving Day storm is right on time for the competitors at this year’s Stifel Killington Cup. World famous racer Michaela Shiffrin steps into the gates for her 100th win on the fresh 21” that fell. The Beast is just one of the Northeast’s open mountain resorts to be thankful for fresh powder. Mainers around Sugarloaf are cashing in on the early season optimism. There’s a lot of joy being shared at Jay Peak, too. Ever since last April’s late season miracle, locals have been breathless and wild for winter to return. The early kick off for the Queen of the Northeast Kingdom leaves us with a lot of hope for an excellent season ahead. On Black Friday, Belleayre in New York wore the crown for the Empire State with 10" reported from this recent storm, falling on 7 trails open. Heading into December, Whiteface also shared the shred from the storm that came down through dessert, opening consistent daily operations for the season.
The base depths in many places where snow making really paid off are turning the jibs turn into jumps, but early season conditions exist, so don’t get too feisty with a fresh base just yet!
