A number of Utah resorts commemorate Independence Day for 2025 -- and the official start of the summer season -- with a flurry of public breakfasts, parades, hot dog-eating contests and fireworks.

At Park City, the day begins with pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by 5K fun run at 8 a.m. The annual parade kicks off at 11 a.m., meandering its way down Main Street with floats, bands and performers. Afterwards, there's a street market, activities in the town park, and fireworks.

Nearby Deer Valley hosts a culinary BBQ on the deck of the mid-mountain Stein Erikson Lodge. High-end offerings include tomato and watermelon carvings, bison tri-tips and lamb t-bones, and a 16-layer chocolate and raspberry cake. Reservations required.

Up north, Powder Mountain will host ax throwing and cornhole contests, a beer garden and live music. Chairlift will run 5-9 p.m., and bike park open. Once nightfall comes, fireworks from Ogden should be visible.

Over the divide, Brighton Resort marks the beginning of summer activities with its quirky Fourth of July Parade and a passel of activities. Breakfast kicks things off at 8 a.m. At 10:30, the first of three laps around the parking lot loop begins. Loops add more and more, including bicyclists, motor vehicles, pedestrians and the famed Candy Toss. Hot dog-eating contest goes off at 3:30 p.m. Disc golf and chairlifts rides open for season.

To the south, Sundance Resort puts on the Ritz for the Fourth. A ticket to the all-day BBQ comes with beer and includes half off a scenic chairlift ride. Reservations required.

At the southwest corner of the state, Brian Head ramps up the Independence Day enjoyment. Chairlifts begin spinning at 9:30 a.m. on July 4, and the beer garden opens at 11 a.m. There's a hot dog-eating contest at 4 p.m., and live music from 1-8 p.m. Hang out the next day for much of the same.
