Woodward's 'Mountain Centers' Provide Non-Stop Action All Year Long

One of the main features at two Woodward's "Mountain Centers" is the seamless move from summer to winter, indoors to outdoors ... back and forth.
Two Woodward action sports facilities are designated as such -- Copper Mountain in Colorado and Boreal in California -- by merging the indoors with the outdoors year round. The skills of dryland training developed under cover or outside during the warm months translate readily to what is required on the steeps, bumps and trees on the snow.
Skateboarders hop on the ledges, ramps and rails set up inside. Then, when the snow flies, they strap on the snowboard and hit up the on-mountain terrain parks, moguls and long, high-speed carves. Two-plankers can wheel on roller skates in the summer, and mimic much of the same moves once the winter arrives. And, freestyle mountain biking tests the same balance, anticipation and risk-reward decisions that are required on a skis or 'boards.
Woodward Tahoe sits at the base of Boreal Mountain. Open year-round, "The Bunker" indoor action sports hub covers 33,000 square feet. Facilities include skatepark, trampoline park, drop ramps and foam pits, pump track and all-around parkour. Neighbor Soda Springs complements with a comprehensive start park.
Outdoors, skaters of all stripes up their games on two skateparks, a park of parkour zones and a three-pocket bowl combo. Next to The Bunker, the Pop-Up Park brings the rails, boxes, spines and pipes of the winter terrain parks to the base area.
And, mountain bikers hop on the Castle Peak chair to reach a variety of trails with slabs, trenches and drops. Or, pull over into one of two skills park or the airbag jump.
At Colorado's Copper Mountain, Woodward has dug in for a half-dozen seasons. Known for all levels of facilities, Copper's freestyle vibe fits both seasons. So much so that, in 2019, the Union Camp chair became Woodward Express, and all the terrain under and around it has become an enornous terrain park.
Copper's West Village anchors Woodward activities in both seasons. Inside and year-round, The Barn contains 19,400 square feet of all one needs to get into the action. Elements specific to skiing, snowboarding, skating, BMX, trampolining and tumbling spread out under its roof.
Outside, the comprehensive Mountain Park covers the gamut of skill levels -- from start park and family cross, to Red's Backyard rail jams, to full-on jumps and a Superpipe.
In Utah, Woodward has built a stand-alone facility near Park City that is unaffiliated with any ski and snowboard resort.
