A New Rail Jam Debuts At Wintergreen Resort
If you need to know one thing about southern skiing and snowboarding, it’s this: the southerners love themselves a good rail jam. And nothing says be mine like a rail jam on Valentine’s Day.
The debut of Wintergreen Resort’s Jib Jam is at the resort this weekend. On February 14, 2026, head to the Virginia ski area’s terrain park for a slopestyle event focused on style and progression. Two runs will be judged on overall impression, and each rider will count their best run as for scoring. Skiers and snowboarders are both invited to compete. Winners get the chance to take home snowboards from Never Summer and skis from Rossignol. Medals and other product will be awarded to the winnners, as well.
Those interested in competing should register here.
Practice for the event will go down from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A mandatory riders’ meeting starts at 12:30 p.m. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Mountain Inn. There will be men’s and women’s divisions for the following age groups; seven and under, 8 – 10, 11-13, 14-16, and 17 and up.

Hatley Pointe will host a jam session at its terrain park from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 15.
Then on February 22, 2026, Appalachian Ski Mountain will host the Shred For The Cup Series. There are three categories – beginner, intermediate, and advanced – and three part disciplines – rail jam, big air, and slopestyle. There will be a women’s division in each category. Volcom, Burton, and Anon will be on hand, giving out product as some prizes for the winners.
And not quite a rail jam, but still a contest nonetheless, Snowshoe Mountain will host the Darn Tough Banked Slalom on February 28 and March 1. In classic banked slalom form, both skiers and snowboarders can try their hand at the local course, filled with berms, turns, jumps, and rollers on Spruce Run. You can sign up here if you’re a skier, or here if you’re a snowboarder.
