New Kid's Area to Open at Cascade Mountain
Kids love sliding on snow (so do adults!) but they don't always love being in ski or snowboard boots. Most of us have seen people show up to Midwest ski resorts with sleds and then promptly asked not to sled on the ski hill. Cascade Mountain is welcoming children to their new Polar Park this winter, a space for them to sled and play in the snow separate from the ski runs. The new kids zone is located in the base area and does require a Polar Park Ticket which is $5.

As a snowboard instructor I can personally attest to the positive impact an area for kids to just have fun in the snow is for young future skiers and riders. Lessons at a young age are great, but if you want your child to be a life long snow enthusiast the priority when they are little ideally is that they are enjoying playing outside and beginning to slide on snow, be it skis, snowboards, or sleds. By providing a safe area for little ones to explore playing with the snow and the magic of snow sports Cascade Mountain really is considering appealing to all ages and especially families with young children. Safety is the number one concern for resorts and participants alike and instead of stating "no sledding" Cascade Mountain found a way to make it possible to safely add another snow-sliding activity to their list along with skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing.
At this time they have not announced an opening date, however with 48 of 48 trails open I look forward to the announcement that Polar Park is open soon!
