It’s dumping snow in the Northeast, and New York State is no exception.

Hunter Mountain has gotten 17” in just the last few days, and Holiday Valley got another 9”. Gore Mountain received about 1’.

And it looks like there’s more snow in the future. Another storm is in the future, and expected to drop on Hunter Mountain on March 3, 2026. Before then, there will be some snowflakes in between.

Oak Mountain, located just 50 miles from Lake George, just got another eight inches of snow since last Friday. Another few inches are in the forecast for the rest of this week.

“The snow just keeps piling up this year and we're stoked!” the ski area’s marketing team said in an email. “The weekend is looking absolutely delightful with a mix of sun and clouds, so don't forget to pack your sunscreen for those bluebird days on the slopes.”

That aligns well with a busy event scheduled as we head into March. There will be alpine ski team parallel races this weekend going down Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The cardboard races – which are exactly what they sound like, a race with sleds completely made out of cardboard – kick off March 7, 2026. There will be trophies for the fastest sled in three groups: 7 and under, 8-14, and 15 and up.

On March 14, 2026, its time for the OMR Slalom Fun Race. Fifty people with a need for speed can race starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Mountain Oak pond skim is scheduled for March 21, 2026. There will be a party featuring music from the Altered Tones immediately after.
