Sugar Mountain Will Host An Easter Egg Hunt On The Slopes
Easter isn’t until April this year, but Sugar Mountain is celebrating a little bit early.
The resort with the most vertical drop in North Carolina is hosting an Easter Egg hunt on March 8, 2026.
Put on your best Easter Bunny themed costume and head to Easy Street, where eggs will be hidden. The most creative costumes will be rewarded with a prize, and one Easter egg will contain a season pass for the 2026-2027 season.
The event is for children under the age of 12, and kicks off at the base of Easy Street at 8:45 a.m. A valid lift ticket and skis or a snowboard is required for those who want to participate.
There’s no doubt that it’s been a banner year for snowfall in the southeast. The Tar Heel State just got hit with another storm at the end of last week. In the last day or so, they’ve gotten another 2”, bringing the annual snowfall total to 61.5”. Right now, the base depth is 94” and there are 13 trails open.
Sugar is one of my favorite places to ride my snowboard in the spring. North Carolina gets blasted with sunshine, and there’s plenty of riding in just a long sleeve t-shirt to be had.
A day before the Easter Egg hunt, Sugar Mountain will host the Richard T. Trundy Memorial Sugar Cup competition. The giant slalom fundraising competition is available to skiers and snowboarders, and will raise money for the American Cancer Society in memory of the former Sugar operations director.
You can pre-register here. Racer lift tickets will be $39 and the race fee will be a $35 donation. The course will be NASTAR style, and be held on Oma’s Meadow.
