SugarFest Goes Down In North Carolina This Weekend
Temperatures are cold and snow has fallen in the southeast. What better way to celebrate than at Sugar Mountain?
SugarFest is going down this weekend from December 12 through the 14, 2025. Those in attendance will be treated to ski and snowboard demos, a preseason ski clinic, an after-ski party and fireworks, and plenty of food and drink to keep the party going.
The Boone-based classic rock cover band Classic Highway will before on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the fireworks will go off around 5:45 p.m.
Those looking to make the trip and stay overnight can get up to 30% off of their lodging at Resort Real Estate & Rentals and Sugar Ski & Country Club.
The preseason ski clinic will start at 8:30 a.m. every morning. For just $200, season pass holders get a lift ticket every day, coaching fees, video analysis, and dinner on Saturday night. Non-season pass holders can participate for $270. If you can’t participate during all three days, the package is offered to season pass holders for $70 a day, and to non-season pass holders for $134 a day.
This might be editorializing a little bit, but this is one of the most affordable ways to learn how to improve as a skier. The clinic is welcome to intermediate, advanced, or expert skiers, ages 12 and up.
You can sign up for the ski clinic here.
Demos will be offered from Salomon, Volkl, Nordica, Burton, Head, Never Summer, K2, Atomic, Rossignol, Ride and Line. Those will be available Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
As for the SugarFeast, you’ll have plenty of options to pick from. There will be a hot chocolate and whipped cream bar on Saturday and Sunday, and a Soup Safari, featuring fresh soups made from scratch, starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Sunday will feature a BBQ and Sweet Tea lunch and dinner.
We’re a little less than a month in, but it’s already been a pretty good start to the season at Sugar Mountain. The resort in Banner Elk was hit with another 4” of snow yesterday, good for a total of 19” of snowfall this year. As of Thursday, December 11, there were four lifts spinning and nine trails open.
