Killington Resort's transition to independence was promised to be smooth. The lineup of events announced for the rest of the season, shows that it will be exciting, too.

Kicking off the season with the Stifel Cup, Killington locals and long-time loyals breathed a collective sigh of relief that some of the cherished traditions would not be lost with the sale from the POWDR portfolio. A New Year’s Eve party with fireworks, the Mini Shred Madness park event for groms 13 and under, and a meet and greet with Ride Another Day founder Chauncy Johnson during National Safety Month, all packed into the first two weeks of January.

Now, the largest winter sports resort in Eastern North America is maintaining a steady drum beat of events. The buffet of activities includes the return of fan favorites and Killington area classics. “As we foray into our first winter as a newly independent resort, our events schedule is as busy as ever,” says Michael Sutcliffe, Events & Sponsorship Manager at Killington Resort. “We’re happy to welcome back three full days of Subaru WinterFest, as well as the return of the Red Bull Slide-In Tour and our annual Slash & Berm Banked Slalom. Plus, our spring schedule is always full of fun, with the newly minted kparks Spring Sendoff coming this year to help close out our first winter back with Killington Parks.”

From January to March, Killington hosts the Michelob ULTRA Ski Bum Race Series every Wednesday. Racers at neighboring Pico rally every Thursday for the Michelob ULTA Pico Race World. The Vertical Challenge comes to Pico March 15th to close the race season with casual racing fun, at least as “casual” as racers can be. Speaking of casual, enjoy a slower pace to the outdoors with Pico Hiko on Feb 21 to demo uphill gear. If you can’t stand slow or easy, there is the teeth-rattling Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge on April 5th featuring live music and blistering bump skiers.

There are events for the rowdy and raucous as well. Park Affair returns this year February 8 with a female led and community-focused snowboard park camp for all riders of all abilities. Pizza on your skis then pizza in your belly with Andy Parry’s Tell A Friend Tour bringing good vibes and tasty pies to the Killington Parks. More costumes equals more fun on April 12 as you choose which order to participate between kparks Spring Send-off and the Pond Skim, which never lets down, even as the pond fills up.

Music and events dot the calendar through the winter as well. A Day for Jake celebrates the life and legacy of Jake Burton Carpenter. Ski Vermont Speciality Food Day celebrates the luscious heritage of dairy and delicacies in the region. Love Your Peaks returns to Killington to fund-and-awareness-raise with Boarding 4 Breast Cancer. Dazed and Defrosted ushers in the outdoor concert season with a spring music festival alongside a season-pass holder appreciation party on April 19th.

Killington Resort is widely renowned for spinning the lifts for snow sports well into May, so keep up with these and more events HERE, but make sure to save time to say thank you to the mountain on VT Green Up Day on May 3. Join Vermont’s yearly trash clean-up event to help keep the Green Mountains green, and enjoy seeing first hand as the birds return, the flowers burst forth, and the events at the Beast roll on for another 365.
