Most life long skiers in the midwest, the ones who live and breathe skiing, find themselves in one of two buckets as kids. They either go the route of becoming a park rat or a ski racer. Once said ski racers become adults and age out of racing, the need for speed doesn't go away. Here to fill the void is the Midwest Race League, affectionately nicknamed "beer league" each resort that participates draws upwards of 75 participants who can compete on a team or as individuals. The league also hosts a championship race weekend each season which according to their website includes "Individual Super G, Giant Slalom, and Slalom racing, and also Team GS racing" which is open to anyone who participated in MRL races at resorts that are part of the organization. They also allow guest racers to join in the fun on the championship weekend and then Saturday is the "Big Dog" race where all the top racers from each resort compete to see who is the fastest.

Don't worry - I didn't forget about the snowboarders. They can join in the fun too! What ever your chosen boot style is (hard or soft boots) snowboarders are also welcome to compete at MRL hosting resorts and in the championship race March 6th and 7th at Mount Lacrosse in Onalaska Wisconsin. You don't have to have grown up ski racing to join, just a love for going fast and a competitive spirit.

If you didn't already guess, MRL and other adult race leagues are referred to as "beer league" because of the camaraderie of hanging out at the resort bar after you get your laps in to enjoy a drink and connect with your community. Check out your local league and start racing!
