Zeb Powell is going home.

He and best friend/roommate Alex Caccamo are hosting another Pop Out Tour back in Zeb’s home state of North Carolina.

This year’s tour includes four stops:

  • Hatley Pointe, on January 12
  • Cataloochee on January 13
  • Beech Mountain on January 14
  • Appalachian Ski Mountain on January 16

Some of the usual suspects will make an appearance, including Brantley Mullins and her brother JK Mullins, Kaden Rusinko, and the rest of the Recess Shop Team. Good music, park laps, and Rusinko jumping off of the roof of a house can all be expected.

The duo held their first Pop Out event in 2024 at Wordward Park City in Utah, and they were back at it again in 2025 with hot laps, a park sesh, and good times. This year’s tour is the third iteration of the community event.

Both Caccamo and Powell are East Coasters who typically jump at the opportunity to give back to the region with community ride events. They were a key part in the Red Bull Slide-In Tour, and the Burton Mystery Series.

The events are all community based, so an emphasis is placed on interacting with riders of all ages and ability levels, blasting some music, and having a good time while inspiring the next generation of riders.

Hatley Pointe is a newcomer to the tour. The family-owned resort less than an hour outside Asheville dropped its ropes for the first time on December 21, 2024. The family began a construction process that was met with several bumps in the road after it took over the ski area in March 2023. While it was originally expected to open to the public in January 2024, the Hatley’s found that they needed to upgrade the snowmaking equipment, replace chairlifts, and gut its lodge.

Since then, though, they’ve leaned into the park rat culture of southern snowboarding by installing a tow rope and opening a quality terrain park. Before it even opened for business, the Hatley family invited the Recess Team, (a Boone-based board shop) to come test out a makeshift park setup.

Hatley Pointe is on the Indy Pass, as well as nearby Cataloochee Ski Area, located about 70 miles away.
