Brattleboro Ski Hill makes it easy to fall in love with Winter

There's never been a better time to introduce your snow-curious friends to skiing or riding in the Northeast. With affordable, convenient options like the Brattleboro Ski Hill, your soon-to-be skiing (or riding) buddies can take their first steps into the wonderful world of winter stoke. Like Storrs Hill Ski Area in New Hampshire, Brattleboro Ski Hill offers the perfect environment to build confidence before graduating to bigger mountains nearby. Just grab rentals from a local shop, snag a $5 ticket, and you're ready to slide.
Forget everything your friends fear about skiing: no crowded lodges triggering claustrophobia, no crack-of-dawn wake-up calls, and no wallet-crushing investment for a speculative day trip. Easy, accessible, and affordable, the Brattleboro Ski Hill is a groms-on-groomers paradise that will answer the question once and for all: "Is skiing for me?" That spark of winter passion is waiting to ignite on their T-bar serviced, first-time friendly runs.
With winter hitting its stride, conditions are absolutely prime and storms keep rolling in. The snow is soft, the winter wonder abounds, and these local gems are ready to welcome the next generation of powder lovers. The Northeast is sprinkled with these hidden treasures: owned by towns, run by rec centers, sanctioned by golf courses, tucked away on the slopes just steep enough for a quick cruise. You won't find a trail map (nor will you need one), and there's no marketing department to speak of – which is why Brattleboro Ski Hill remains something of a secret. Yet there it sits at Living Memorial Park, just west of I-91 on Vermont Route 9: a football field on a slope with everything you need for a day of glorified sledding that just might change someone's life.
This is truly the Feeder Hill of Dreams. Thursday nights feature $6 lessons from Mt. Snow staff who guide good habits and coach development – especially valuable for first-generation downhillers (find out more about what to expect in your first lesson). This season, Stratton Mountain even contributed two snow cannons to ensure solid early-season coverage. The hill is 100% volunteer run – including all snowmaking and grooming – and operates on a simple cash or check system. Kids 5 and under riding for free! For Northeast residents, winter can feel like an endless cycle of shoveling – but with an exhilarating winter hobby, you'll find yourself celebrating every forecasted inch of accumulation. Places like Brattleboro Ski Hill are where that love of winter sports takes root, and now's your chance to be that catalyst. After all, as Warren Miller famously said: "If you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do."
